About

Words are Delicious is a blog dedicated to the observation of words, language, and content development. We’re not linguists. We don’t have all the answers. We’re prone to typos. But we’re fascinated with the way words are used to convey intent, meaning, and emotion. We’re captivated by the study of the content development process. And we love, love, love slang.

So we thought we’d, you know, share our fascination with you.

Rian Van Der Merwe
Rian grew up in South Africa, where he didn’t speak nearly enough English.  So when he first came to America, people couldn’t understand him – especially over the phone.  He promptly overcompensated by becoming way too serious about words, correct punctuation, and, like, the such as.  He now works for an e-commerce company in Silicon Valley, but in research – not content.  So don’t tell anyone he’s obsessed with language.  You can also follow Rian on Twitter here.

Keri Maijala
Keri spent a good portion of her school years exasperating her writing teachers who wished she would find a way to channel her energy for the powers of good. Many years after graduating with an oh-so-useful degree in English, she figures they meant she should start a language and content blog with a word-obsessed South African. Keri can be found playing the role of a content strategist for an e-commerce company very similar to the one mentioned above.
